Pisa Tower Italy

The historic Tower of Pisa is one of the most important monuments of Italian heritage. Made of white marble, it has a height of 55.86 meters at its lowest and 56.70 meters at the highest side. That's right, the tower is inclined! It started to happen shortly after the beginning of its construction in the twelfth century, due to a poorly compacted soil foundation.

Several restoration works have been made over the years to stabilize the tower, and it currently has a slope of about 4 degrees. The estimated weight of the construction is 14,500 tons!

The monument is located in the Campo dei Miracoli (Field of Miracles), the main public square of the city of Pisa, together with the Cathedral (Duomo), the Baptistery and the Bell Tower (Campanile). Currently the place is well visited by tourists from around the world!
