The city of São Paulo is definitely not known for its forests, but you are about to find out that one of the most beautiful views of the city has a lot of green in it.
The Núcleo Pedra Grande (portuguese for Big Rock) is a park behind the Horto Florestal. It has a 3 km trail till the big rock where you can have a splendid view of the city.
The place is not just a nice view, it also has plenty of wildlife like local colorful birds, monkeys, snakes, jaguars and deers. Just respect nature, keep your voice low and do not disturb the fauna.
If you still have energy, you can do another trekking to the Clear Water, another part of the Núcleo. It’s only 2 km away from the big rock and it has a nice playground for the kids.
Also, you won’t find any coffee shops here, so make sure you bring a snack or a whole meal for a picnic - it's up to you!
